THE AVENUE OF LIFE
The hustling restaurants, happening hotel lobbies, teeming movie theatres have all been overlooked these past few months. The pandemic has not only posed a threat to our lives but has also changed the way we all function. The hospitality sector is one of the most severely affected. The occupancy has dropped down severely and many employees have lost their jobs.
‘Vriddhi’ which means extension or enhancement is derived from Sanskrit. Our design intervention aims to provide sanitation and contactless movement across the setting. Akin to its meaning, Vriddhi acts as an extension to an existing hospitality setting and our bodies.
Resembling an avenue, Vriddhi is a combination of a sanitation tunnel and two vending machines that give keychains to people entering it. The spray nozzles are fit into the structural members of the tunnel that begin to spray the sanitation liquid once the sensor detects a human entry. The tunnel is adorned by contextual antimicrobial and air purifying shrubs and is well lit with ambient lights that put the user at ease. The minimal design complements all scales and décor of hospitality set up. Manufactured using brass, the keychain has inherent antimicrobial properties and helps one interact with surfaces without physically interacting with them.
Our design sheet is put together like a journal of a designer who is very keen on changing the present situation of the hospitality industry with their design.
The Sanskrit saying, ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ i.e., ‘The guest is god’ is the underlying theme of our design. We hope that Vriddhi ensures a guest’s safety not only during these strenuous times but also post the pandemic, to minimise any such outbreaks as much as possible.
POST PANDEMIC COVID TREATMENT FACILITY | Sangeet | Santhosh
INTRO
The idea of this design is , How people are treated in a “Post Pandemic Covid treatment facility” when the availability of covid oxygen supporting beds in the country has been a struggle since the past few months.
Due to the Novel coronavirus (C-19) , the world has undergone a remarkable man-made disaster and has suffered a great loss
So, as in India, the availability of oxygen supporting beds also has decreased a lot.
The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes, so it’s important that you also practice respiratory etiquette (for example, by coughing into a flexed elbow).
MAIN IDEA
We had designed a post pandemic quarantine design facility, for a competition which relates to both the topics of post pandemic situation.
The design deals with how patients affected by covid are treated in separate individual wards and how the circulation of the doctors are done.
So we thought , this concept will be applicable for the project given to us.
